The specialty of Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine at GHC Hospitals deals with the whole spectrum of respiratory diseases that involve the lungs, airways, mediastinum, pleura, diaphragm and the chest wall. We also deal with disorders that affect the breathing indirectly like neuromuscular disorders & sleep disorders. The prevalence of respiratory diseases is increasing worldwide and particularly in Mumbai due to pollution, growing urbanization & smoking. The diseases like Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis, Tuberculosis, Sarcoidosis, Pneumonias, Chest traumas, Pneumothorax, Pleural and Mediastinal lymphadenopathy, Lung cancer, Sleep disorders, Allergies, and Respiratory failure due to various causes are frequently encountered these days and need specialist management. Our department is well equipped with advanced pulmonary function testing lab, video bronchoscopy & thoracoscopy. We also possess the state-of-the-art Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) system with both linear and radial probes to perform real time and safe procedures. We also take pride in our skilled team to perform allergy testing and its treatment. Another highlight of the department is the fully equipped advanced sleep  study lab (polysomnography) to perform overnight studies, split studies, titration studies & multiple sleep latency testing.
